Tila, as a monk, had travelled far and wide, staying in many spiritual places, in search of happiness. His journey had taken him across many borders, real geographic ones and spiritual ones. Desiring a long break in his travels, he recently settled into my neighbourhood to look after a meditation centre.
Perhaps like most people on our planet, my ultimate goal is to find happiness in my life. So when I heard that a monk focused on happiness had moved into the meditation centre near my home, I jumped at the chance to learn from his experiences and wisdom. Expressing my desire to find happiness, I requested an appointment, and he graciously invited me to visit the next day.
As I walked into the meditation centre, Tila, the monk, startled me: “So you want me to help you find happiness?”
Not expecting this direct question, all I could manage to say was, “Yes!”
Tila paused a little and then said, “I have a better suggestion. How about we both, together, work out how to find happiness? Surely two minds are better than one!”
So began our journey to find happiness, and of course you are welcome to join us.
